(Gulf Shores)

Indie-Folk cellist Ben Sollee and his crew have decided to put the van and planes aside and pedal there way from show to show on his "Ditch the Van Tour".  The tour is scheduled to stop at The Hangout in Gulf Shores on November 2nd at 7:30.

Ben Sollee uses his voice and cello to tell stories with an awareness-raising bent while bridging connections to his community and fans. On October 27th, Sollee will embark on his fourth “Ditch The Van” bicycle tour to make those connections broader. The tour will wind down the Gulf Coast starting at Preservation Hall in New Orleans, LA and ending at the Orlando Calling Music Festival in Florida on November 13th. Of course, Ben will be towing his trademark instrument behind him along the way.
On the “Ditch The Van” tour, Sollee and his crew will forgo driving or flying and instead pedal their way from show to show pulling their instruments and gear behind them. Sollee’s goal is not a novelty, or a nod to the green trend, but a chance to gain a deeper connection to his fans and surrounding communities which is the inspiration behind his critically acclaimed release Inclusions - an album that Silas House for No Depression calls “a beautiful, raw, polished collection of songs.” Sollee feels the escalating pace of touring and this is an unparalleled opportunity to slow things down, meet new people, and take in the local scenery and culture that most travelers bypass completely.

Ben Sollee will release his new album entitled Inclusions on May 10th, 2011. The album contains 11 original songs from the classically trained pop cellist and explores contemporary folk music in an urbanized world.

Inclusions builds a foundation of sound that ties Sollee’s mutt-like influences into a contemporary pedigree. Duane Lundy, the engineer and mixing artist behind Sollee’s 2007 debut Learning to Bend, produces the album.

“Embrace” is the first video made for Inclusions. It debuts today and you can watch it here: http://vimeo.com/20839922
