On January 15, 2012, investigators from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible counterfeiting case at the Depot Chevron gas station in Foley. Upon arrival investigators discovered (8) counterfeit $5 dollars bills. Surveillance video was obtained from the store and a white male was observed on the video and identified as the person who had passed the bills earlier that day. Two store clerks were able to identify the subject as “Joey” a frequent customer. The manager was able to obtain a tag number from the suspect’s truck and that registration led investigators to a residence on George Younce road in Foley. A person at the residence was able to confirm that a male subject did live there name Joseph Daniel Hall also know as Joey. The vehicle was also at the residence. Warrants were signed on Joseph Daniel Hall for “possession of a forged instrument 1st degree”.
On January 23, 2012, Investigators took Mr. Hall into custody at his residence on George Younce Road. Mr. Hall eventually admitted that he did in fact possess and pass the counterfeit bills at the Depot Station.
The bills were not a “high quality” reproduction. In fact they all had the same serial number, they were printed on letterhead paper instead of cotton paper, did not have fibers or security thread. On the rear of the bills the cut job was so poor that partial printer lines were left on 6 of the 8 bills.
The surveillance video was too large a file to send with this release, however, if any media persons wish to view or observed the video it is avalil at the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Command building in Robertsdale.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the officer involved shooting that occurred around 6:49 pm on Sunday, April 24, 2011.
Around 6:36 pm the Foley Police Department received a 911 transfer of a domestic incident in progress at the Homeport Lounge in Foley. The suspect was identified as Mark Martin Everson, 55 years old, of 18178 Keller Road. The complainant stated that Everson had said that he was going to burn her residence to the ground. A vehicle description was given out to the responding officer, Sgt. Dempsey Hunt.
While responding to the call, Sgt. Hunt passed the suspect vehicle, a silver Ford Taurus, traveling east on Keller Road. Sgt. Hunt turned around on the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at Keller Road and HWY 59.
Sgt. Hunt ordered the suspect to turn off his vehicle. Sgt. Hunt then asked the suspect to show his hands numerous times. The suspect exited his vehicle with a high powered rifle. The suspect was ordered numerous times to put the gun down. The suspect pointed the rifle at Sgt. Hunt at which time Sgt. Hunt fired several shots at the suspect, fatally wounding him. Everson was transported to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola where he was pronounced dead.
The incident was reordered in its entirety by Sgt. Hunt’s dash cam. That video will not be released at this time.
The suspect in this case is identified as Mark Martin Everson of 19178 Keller Road in Foley. It does not appear that Everson has any criminal history.
Sgt. Dempsey Hunt is an 18 year veteran of law enforcement. The Foley Police Department is conducting a separate internal investigation to determine if any policies or procedures were violated.
While it remains early in this investigation, it appears there was no wrong doing on behalf of Sgt. Hunt. Sgt. Hunt was justified in the fatal shooting of the suspect, Mark Everson.
The investigation into this case will continue until completion and it will be presented to a Baldwin County Grand Jury for review.
