Houma, La

Meet BONNIE WELLS, singer, songwriter, guitarist, drummer, bassist and performer extraordinaire.  She is energetic, optimistic and one seriously determined artist – not bad for a 14 year old.  Or, put another way, Bonnie Wells has a passion for music that is undeniable.

Bonnie has written a song entitled “Ain’t So Blue Anymore” to give a voice to all of those affected by the oil spill disaster in the Gulf.   She saw the effects of the catastrophe daily, and her concept was that she realized that we weren’t being told the truth and there was more to this than the information being given.  The thought of people losing their way of living and maybe even their homes, struck a chord with her. The song has inspired, moved, and truly made people realize the enormous affect on the gulf coast region. She received a standing ovation at a local concert. People are now quoting lines from the song.  Jeri wrote on her facebook page, my favorite line is ‘’you better fix all the damage you’re putting us through, but you don’t really care do you.’’ Those are powerful words from a 14 year old. Another person stated ‘’not even Dillon could have said it better.’’
Great songs are derived from real life experiences and truly, Bonnie has captured people’s emotions with this song.
Although she is a gifted songwriter, the stage is her first love and where she shines, connecting with people and enjoying every minute she is performing.

Bonnie is a freshman at Houma Junior High School.  She is a percussionist in the school band, member of Student Council and Honor’s Society.  She is also the school mascot and perhaps the most optimistic person there is.  Every day is the best day for Bonnie.
