Gulf Shores, AL - Gulf Coast Event Group has partnered with Spectrum Resorts for the Inaugural Race to the Top of the Tower at Turquoise Resort on Thursday, January 19.
This invitational stair race will have heroes hustling up 33 floors of the east Turquoise Place Tower in Orange Beach to benefit the Special Olympics of Alabama. Members of regional police, fire, EMS and military will be racing all the way to the roof with the first runner crossing the finish line crowned the champion.
Interested first responders can sign up at their station or at Turquoise Place on Jan. 19. The cost is $10 per runner with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Special Olympics of Alabama. Participants will receive a commemorative shirt and refreshments at the conclusion of the event.
This event will feature a mad dash to the stairwell entrance, which promises an exciting start when the cannon goes off at 10 a.m.
This is the kick-off event for the Gulf Coast Half Marathon weekend, which is one of several Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Sports Commission events for January. The Gulf Coast Half Marathon inspired by Running Wild with the nearly World Famous Pos- Race Party hosted by LuLu's @ Homeport is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 22 at 7 a.m.
