Alabama House to Vote on SB192, the Brewery Modernization Act "Free the Hops"

(Montgomery)

SB192, the Brewery Modernization Act, will be voted on today by the Alabama House. This bill has already passed the Senate, so today's vote will determine if we see brewery reform this year.

On the one hand, this is a pro-jobs bill that should be an easy sell. On the other hand, many will still see it as a beer bill. Remember that the homebrew legalization bill failed this year... bad. Like SB192, it was expected to pass rather easily. So don't expect the Brewery Modernization Act to have an easy time. There are a lot of reasons why even anti-alcohol legislators should be in favor of this bill. Please help make sure they realize those reasons.

Hopefully, today will represent our second victory! Just a few short years ago, our Gourmet Beer Bill was literally laughed at as the "deadest" bill of the session. Just two years later, we passed that bill. How did we go from being a joke to changing the beer laws in Alabama? Grassroots activism, thousands of phone calls and emails, and refusing to be ignored. The few part-time leaders at FTH and a professional lobbyist can't make that kind of change happen. It was you guys. Please help us do something amazing once again.
