One of our favorite events, our annual LuLuPalooza Free, All-Ages Concert has attracted such wonderful artists as Jon Cleary, Honeyboy Edwards, Mac McAnally , John Mooney, Brandi Carlisle, Mat Kearney, Paul Thorn, Sonny Landreth…and it just gets bigger and better every year! The best way to celebrate Memorial Day on the coast!
Here is this years Line-up:
Paul Thorn Sunday the 29th 7:30 pm
Paul Thorn hails from Tupelo, Miss., and as the son of a Church of God minister, he traveled with his father, playing tambourine in church revivals. Before he pursued music as a career, he became fascinated with boxing and learned how to box from an uncle who had moved to Tupelo from Los Angeles. By his teens, he was winning fights and ultimately turned professional. In 1987, he fought Roberto Duran on national television. In time, he quit boxing and worked in a furniture factory by day, playing in area clubs and restaurants at night. While performing at a Tupelo pizza joint, he was discovered by a representative of legendary manager Miles Copeland (The Police, Sting).
Thorn made his first record Hammer & Nail for A&M Records in 1997 then moved to Copeland's boutique label Ark 21 for Ain't Love Strange in 1999. His third album, Mission Temple Fireworks Stand, was released in 2002 on Back Porch/Narada, followed by Are You With Me? in 2004.
He has toured extensively, frequently as a special guest of musicians such as Toby Keith, Sting, Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck, John Hiatt, Richard Thompson, Robert Cray, Marianne Faithfull and John Prine. In addition, he has co-written with artists as diverse as Jon Bon Jovi, Timothy B. Schmit (The Eagles), Kim Richey and Carole King. He is also a prolific painter.
Randall Bramblett Sunday the 29th 5:00 pm

Randall Bramblett and his wife, Lenore, were kicking around ideas for an album title when she suggested Now It‘s Tomorrow. But no amount of thought could have produced a more apt description of where the singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist stands at this point in his celebrated career.
While Bramblett may not be a household name, he is legendary within music circles for his songwriting and musicianship. He released a pair of acclaimed solo albums in the mid-‘70s, then joined the jazz-rock outfit Sea Level, becoming their principal songwriter and vocalist. From there, Bramblett embarked on a path as a big-league, musical utility man (primarily sax and keys) and landed on the speed dial of some of the greatest names in rock history, including Traffic, Steve Winwood, Levon Helm and Bonnie Raitt.
Along the way, although he did not resume his solo recording career, he continued to perform live with The Randall Bramblett Band. Then around the turn of the new millennium, he refocused on his recording career and signed a contract with New West Records. Now It‘s Tomorrow, his fourth for the label, represents an artistic peak in his long and stellar career.
Soul Rebels Brass Band Saturday the 28th 4:00 pm

Imagine blending the sounds of Mardi Gras funk, soft rock, and reggae so seemingly it defies category. Now shrink that idea into a seven-piece ensemble, add a hip hop sensibility plus a hundred years of New Orleans jazz tradition, and you get the Louisiana sound known as the Soul Rebels. This shrewd crew of college trained multi-instrumentalists are forcing listeners to "Let Your Mind Be Free" as they "Work It Out" on the dance floor. Their music is utterly uplifting and hardcore, leaving fans with a myriad of intrinsic sounds and songs to enjoy.
The Soul Rebels were destined for success. After parading around the streets of New Orleans in the tradition of the second line and jazz funerals, the Soul Rebels began their professional debut with the famed Neville Brothers in New Orleans at the hot spot Tipitina's! The Soul Rebels rocked so hard and so strong, they continued opening for the Neville Brothers and beyond. The bands hard funk groove has landed them gigs as an opening act for: Bootsy Collins, A Tribe Called Quest, Better than Ezra, Counting Crows, Green Day, Olympia Brass Band, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Roy Hargrove, James Brown, Allen Toussaint, Lionel Hampton, Terence Blanchard, Branford Marsalis, The Fugees, Digital Underground, The Roots, Brand New Heavies, The Gap Band, Robert Plant & Jimmy Page and many more.
The Soul Rebels have traveled the US and abroad, bringing their live and uncut rhythms as far as England, Greece, Italy, South Africa and France. The band has performed at many prestigious music festivals across the world such as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, North Sea Jazz Fest, Jazz Ascona, Spain Jazz Fest, New Orleans by the Bay with Bill Grand Management, Ray Charles Jazz Festival in Atlanta, Banlieues Bleues, High Sierra Music Fest, Charleston Music and Heritage Fest, River Roots Fest in Iowa, P-Fest in Pensacola, Voodoo Fest, Bonnaroo, JVC Jazz Fest, Chicago Jazz and Blues Fest, Lafayette Crawfish Festival, Umbria Jazz Fest, and Art of Jazz Festival in Toronto, to name a few.
The band's mission is to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. So, bring a taste of New Orleans to your festival, club, or party today with a visit from the Soul Rebels Brass Band.
Johhny Sketch and the Dirty Notes Saturday the 28th 6:30 pm

Formed in 2001, the legend of Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes is a noble tale of friends, funk and fortitude. It is the coagulation of classically trained musicians breaking the confines of the genre in a most likely musical haven; New Orleans. Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes has been known to boldly impress their audiences with more than music, which sometimes involves the removal of clothes, bizarre costumes and the coercion of certain audience members to partake in odd antics. The band is a collection of carefully crafted alter egos, mystical musicians hesitant to share their personal selves but collectively ready to funk beyond the call of duty. Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes is a collective, an ensemble, a six person phone booth in which mild mannered classical guy Clark Kent goes in and Johnny The Wild Superman comes out. And come to think of it, that also involves costumes and the dumping of garments.

Each and every Wednesday in your newspaper or mailbox, grocery stores are touting their weekly specials. I know it may make someone go running to the local store and pick up that discounted item. The question is, are you really saving money?
We decided to put together a steak dinner and see what the price differences really are. The menu is: Bone in Rib-eye, Baked Potato, Squash, Zucchini, Red Onion and Sister Schubert Dinner Rolls. Here is what we learned this week. Brunos came through with the lowest price for the items to be purchased ($15.74) Walmart second ($15.82) Winn Dixie third ($15.85) and Publix fourth at ($20.46) and if you shopped all four stores to get the cheapest price, your total would be ($13.96). *denotes on sale item
